This guide was written to explain how members can use Images in AbsMad Tawk.
» Hosting Your Photos
Firstly AbsMad Tawk DOES NOT PROVIDE Image Hosting or any other uploading service. You must find 3rd party hosts if you wish to use them.
There are very few Free image hosts that permit hotlinking (storing files with sole purpose of linking to them for other sites/forums.)
Cheating the measures taken by hosts to prevent hotlinking is considered bandwidth theft and is NOT supported by AbsMad.
Consider using these:

» Linking Your Photos
Once you have uploaded your image it can then be used on AbsMad Tawk. You will need to know the url (URL means uniform resource locator which is the link that points to the image, for example:
http://myimagehost.com/myusername/myimage.jpg
Then just add the link in this format:
[*img]http://www.mysmiliehost.com/mysmilie.gif[*/img]
(remove the stars)
NOTE: Any oversized image may affect the board layout.
» Avatars and Images in Signatures
It is an understood rule that images are not permitted in signatures in AbsMad. If your signature is found to include a link to a photo the Forum Captains will send you a warning, delete the image, and possibly freeze your account.
The Avatar functions have been turned off in AbsMad.
Why are the rules so strict on images in this forum? Simply, the webmaster finds large signature photos obnoxious and Avatars, while cute, serve very little purpose and they drain the precious and expensive bandwidth that we have.
» Image Troubleshooting
If your image does not show up it may be for the following reasons.
- Your host does not allow hotlinking (ie. Geocities).
- The image is unavailable because you have gone over your bandwidth limit.
- The url of the image is incorrect (note case sensitivity: if the image filename was in lowercase ensure the filename in the url is in lowercase.)
